focus arts building

In this project, Locus client Seward Redesign’s goal was to create a sort of “art hub” from the bones of this 1960’s warehouse, where multiple different tenants of various creative disciplines could exist together in the same building. One of these tenants is Foci, a nonprofit that operates a full-scale glass studio as well as classrooms and a gallery space. In order to work them through programming their space, we had to learn a lot about glassblowing! What pieces of equipment do what, how to optimize adjacencies for workflow, and to ensure each piece of equipment had the proper electrical and gas hookups. The scope of the façade embellishment changed many times throughout the project. We also re-worked the layout of the demising walls dozens of times due to structural and permitting issues. I was responsible for a majority of the drawing set production and renderings for this project. I also regularly met and communicated with decision makers from Seward Redesign and Foci.
