DNA panels
These fabricated steel panels live in a high-end residence designed by Locus Architecture. I picked up the tail end of this aspect of the project, and thus am responsible for the shop drawings you see below. The homeowners were very passionate about the trees on their land, and wanted that reflected somehow inside the house. The DNA sequences of these different types of trees informed the small rectangles that comprise the panels - their width and distances apart is information extrapolated from visual diagrams of DNA. This project involved incredibly meticulous attention to detail, as I was working with tolerances as small as 1/128”. The resultant effect is satisfactorily random and organic.
